Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper at pre-Oscars lunch

Report by Sarah Johnston, Video by Sarah Johnston

Jennifer Lawrence, Ben Affleck, Anne Hathaway and Bradley Cooper have attended the Oscar nominees luncheon in Beverly Hills.

All the nominees were there and spoke about getting ready for the awards, getting in to character for their role and some just appreciating the fact that they were nominated.

Ben Affleck, who won top honors from his peers at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards for the Iran hostage movie Argo, addressed his best director Oscar snub at the luncheon backstage.

Affleck said: "It's tremendous, I mean we got seven nominations including best picture, I'm elated by that, truly, genuinely thrilled and like I said, there are nine amazing movies, any of which could win, any of which would deserve to win if they did, so I don't get into worrying about who got what and who didn't get what.

"I've had many, many, many, many, many years watching from home."

Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for her starring role in Silver Linings Playbook, said that eating normally calms her down before the big day.

"I remember before the Oscars I was wearing that skin tight dress and I ate a Philly cheesesteak and fries and was like, 'this is definitely going to help,' which it didn't, because I had to double up on my Spanx," she joked.

Anne Hathaway, nominated for a best supporting Oscar for her role in Les Miserables, said she does not take her stardom for granted.

"I've been given extraordinary opportunities; I've also fought for extraordinary opportunities," she said.

"So I don't believe you're ever just there in this golden moment, I think you probably always have to remind people that you're there, that you have something to offer beyond what they could've imagined for you. I also think that's part of being an actor."

The 85th annual Academy Awards will be broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 24.
