Three Kings parade in Madrid

Report & Video by Rob Gillett

Carnival style floats, acrobats and animals all took part in the annual Three Kings parade in central Madrid on Saturday, where the crowds celebrated the eve of the Epiphany.

In Spain, the day the three wise men arrived in Bethlehem is considered more important than Christmas Day.

The Three Kings parade is held every year on January 5 and is a chance to see Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar in a theatrical show of lights, costumes and fantasy.

Many children believe it is the wise men who bring them presents at Christmas and wait until January 6 to open their gifts.

11-year-old David said: "To see the three wise men, that's what we are here for, to see the wise men live."
